10th Annual Missoula Monster Project

Opening First Friday, October 4, 5-8 PM & exhibiting through October 27!
in the Main Gallery

The 10th Annual Missoula Monster Project features monster art by 165 Kindergarten Artists from Hawthorne, Lewis & Clark & Rattlesnake Elementary and 165 Adult Artists!

Head to the ZACC on Friday, October 4 between 5-8 PM to celebrate the 10th Annual Missoula Monster Project, marking 10 years of monster magic that begins in kindergarten classrooms.

Every year, the Zootown Arts Community Center works with the Missoula County Public Schools Fine Arts Department to produce the Missoula Monster Project, one of Missoula's most beloved annual community art events. Kindergartners use their incredible imaginations to draw monsters, and adult artists recreate these monsters in their medium. The resulting monster artworks are displayed side-by-side at the ZACC and the exhibit is celebrated with a family-friendly monster-themed event, including live music and monster cake! This year's participating schools are Hawthorne, Lewis & Clark, & Rattlesnake Elementary.

Monsters created by adult artists will be available for purchase, so arrive early to snag your favorite! The opening reception showcases Cowboy Andy & the Salamanders from 5 to 7 PM on the Show Room stage – so bring the kids, check out all the monster art, and enjoy monster cake, generously provided by Yoke’s Fresh Market.

The Missoula Monster Project raises funds to support arts education in Missoula County Public Schools and ZACC classrooms! Monsters donated by adult artists will be sold and the proceeds will be split with the MCPS Fine Arts Department to help ensure that ALL Missoula children have access to quality arts education. The exhibit will be displayed in the Main Gallery through October 27.

For those who are far away and can't come to the opening, don't fret – the 10th Annual Missoula Monster Project will be shoppable online! All monsters will be viewable on the ZACC website following the in-person opening. We have a goal to find a home for every monster this year!
